Official: 8–9 firms eye buying Lukoil's refinery in Sicily
ROME, Dec 19 (PRIME) -- Eight or nine companies are interested in buying a refinery owned by Russia's oil company Lukoil in the Sicilian city of Priolo, Italy’s Enterprise and Made in Italy Minister Adolfo Urso said at a news conference on Monday.
"Several companies have requested information from us on the golden power rule, eight to nine negotiations are being held in Italy at the international level. This proves that if so many players are expressing their intent, this is a strategic asset," Urso said.
The refinery may lose fuel after the E.U. have introduced the sixth package of sanctions that includes a ban on Russian fuel imports on December 5 after which the Council of Ministers of Italy approved an order to bail the refinery out.
